Facial MUSCLE RELAXING INJECTIONS are commonly used to combat and soften both fine lines and deeper wrinkles caused by muscular movement. The purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacteria causes' relaxation of carefully targeted muscles.
Popular areas to treat include the forehead; the frown lines between the eyebrows and the laughter lines. Other areas include the nasal 'bunny' lines; the lower lid and lines around the mouth. DERMAL FILLERS are injectable treatments that restore volume and contour to the face and can be used in conjunction with muscle relaxing injections. Popular treatment areas include the 'lipstick' lines; naso-Iabial folds (the line between the nose and corner of the mouth); 'marionette' lines (below the corners of the lips) and lips requiring volumising and shaping. Restylane products are long lasting but temporary; generally contain a local anaesthetic and their results are immediate. They are made of hyaluron gel which closely resembles naturally occurring hyaluronic acid thus enabling the skin to bind with water. Restylane also stimulates collagen production and improves skin elasticity.

Alex Bootsma qualified as a general nurse in 1995 and worked in the NHS before specialising in Cosmetic Nursing in 2004. She is trained in lasers and IPL; Botulinum Toxin and various dermal filler treatments. She completed advanced BotulinumToxin training in 2008.
