A stye is the infection of one of the oil glands found at the base of your eyelashes. This results in a painful, red and swollen area on the eyelash and bump resembling a pimple usually occurs. Your eye may become sensitive to touch and light and it will produce more tears in an attempt to flush out the irritation.

Your body is usually able to overcome the infection within a week. As the infection is overcome the stye may pop, releases a small amount of pus, or may simply shrink. It is advisable not to touch the stye as you may worsen the infection. Warm applications may help speed up the healing process. Poor nutrition and a lack of sleep may increase one's susceptibility to infection. If your condition has not resolved within 1 week, then please consult your healthcare practitioner.
