A mood is described as an emotional state. A person is often said to be in a good mood or a bad mood. A good typically implies that the person is experiencing positive, feel good emotions. They are happy, cheerful, friendly, helpful etc. A bad mood implies a negative state and negative emotions. This includes edginess, irritability, anger, depression, frustration etc.

Some people may experience fluctuations in their mood with no apparent cause. They may be in a good mood one minute and then their mood suddenly changes to a bad mood. Mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder may cause moodiness. Anxiety, stress, worry, fear, pain, PMS and chronic illness are often common triggers of moodiness. Seasonal affective disorder describes a fluctuation in ones mood based on the weather.

Whatever the cause of your moodiness, it can be very unpleasant to both yourself and those around you and it is very important that reduce or eliminate the cause. Relaxation, meditation, introspection and establishing a calm loving environment are very useful methods of dealing with moodiness.
