Tonsillitis is the inflammation of the tonsils at the back of your mouth. Tonsillitis typically causes a sore throat and a fever. The cause of the inflammation can be viral or bacterial. Complications of tonsillitis include abscess formation, enlargement of the tonsils causing difficulty breathing while sleeping, high fever and in some instances the infection may spread to other parts of the body.
